FAQ

Why use a passphrase instead of a password?

Passphrases are longer sequences of words that are easier for humans to remember but very difficult for computers to crack. A 4-5 word passphrase can provide more entropy than a typical complex password while being much more memorable.

How many words should my passphrase have?

For most purposes, 4-6 words provide excellent security. Each additional word exponentially increases the difficulty of cracking the passphrase. High-security applications may warrant 7 or more words.

What is the diceware method?

Diceware is a method for creating passphrases using dice rolls to select words from a list. This generator uses cryptographically secure random selection that provides equivalent security without requiring physical dice.
