Frequently Asked Questions

What types of PDFs can I extract text from?

This tool works with PDFs that contain selectable text (digitally created or text-based PDFs). Scanned documents that are essentially images may not yield any text, as OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is not performed.

Is my PDF file uploaded to a server?

No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your PDF file never leaves your device and is not sent to any server, ensuring complete privacy.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no hard limit, but very large PDFs (hundreds of pages) may take longer to process since everything runs in your browser. For best performance, use PDFs under 50 MB.

Can I extract text from password-protected PDFs?

Password-protected or encrypted PDFs cannot be processed by this tool. You will need to remove the password protection first using a PDF decryption tool before extracting text.
